Coral & Stripes

July 2, 2015

Lace & Pearls Stripe Dress 2Lace & Pearls Stripe Dress 1Lace & Pearls Stripe Dress 3 Lace & Pearls Stripe Dress 4Dress: J. Crew (old) | Cardigan: Nordstrom (old) | Necklace: J.Crew (old) | Bracelets: J.Crew (old) Nordstrom (old) | Sandals (old) | Lip gloss: M.A.C in color Sinnamon

Whenever I wear this dress I always go for the coral cardigan and statement necklace. I love the combination of coral with navy. This dress is one of my favorites due to it’s length. I’m on the shorter side and it can be hard to find a dress that falls above the knee. This one is perfect. I really should challenge myself to come up with another way to style this dress with either a jacket or a different color cardigan and change out the shoes and accessories. Any ideas?

Have a Happy 4th everyone! Hope the weather cooperates. Thanks for reading.

Polka Dot Sweater

April 7, 2015

Lace & Pearls - Polka Dot Sweater 1 Lace & Pearls - Polka dot sweater 2 Lace & Pearls - Polka Dot SweaterSweater: J.Crew (similar) | Blouse: J.Crew | Jeans : AG (similar) |Necklace: J. Crew (similar) | Bracelet: J.Crew (old) | Handbag : See By Chloe (same one in black) | Shoes: Jambu (old) | Lipstick: Bite Beauty (color Moka)

Whenever I wear this polka dot sweater, people think that I am rooting for the Seattle Sounders or the Seahawks (depending on the season). I am not a big sports fan, but my husband is a supporter of both. So lets just call me a honorary enthusiast.

This sweater is a favorite of mine. It’s 100 % cashmere and the pattern makes me feel like a big kid. It’s a good seasonal piece as we transition into warm weather. The bag is from Nordstrom Rack. I love the color and style, it looks very bohemian and will be great for spring.

A big thanks to my mom for stepping in as photographer while my husband recovers from lasik surgery.

Happy Spring

Whenever I wear a skirt or dress, I always find it challenging to match the tights and the shoes. I did some research and here are the recommended guidelines.

  1. You should match your tights/socks to your shoes.
  2. Or, match your tights to your skirt/dress and keep the shoe neutral.

This outfit just missed St. Patrick’s Day. Not to worry though, as it still embodies the look of spring. This sweater is an oldie but a goodie and super warm. I bought it to compliment the multicolored palette of the skirt. The finishing touch is the bright yellow bubble necklace. If that necklaces doesn’t say spring then I don’t know what does.

Have a great weekend everyone. See you Tuesday!

V-Day at 8 Years

February 17, 2015

These photos were taken on Valentine’s Day. It was pretty chilly out, so I decided to wear my favorite dog sweater layered over a gingham shirt. I wasn’t sure about the colors in the necklace, but I ended up liking how it brought out the details in the sweater.

Last year for Valentine’s Day, my husband and I ate at our favorite local burger joint, Burgermaster. It’s super causal and the location we dine at has a drive-in. The plan for this year was to cook at home, but that quickly changed when we found ourselves running errands near Burgermaster. We happily munched on burgers and fries while splitting a chocolate shake. It was heavenly.

The rest of the weekend was spent getting things done around the house, running errands, and walking at Richmond Beach and Discovery Park.  I love long weekends!

Whippet Skirt

January 27, 2015

DSC_0036DSC_0116-2DSC_0061Sweater: Loft (similar)| Skirt: Brooks Brothers (on sale) | Bracelet: Loft (old) | Necklace: Loft (similar) |Ring: J.Crew (old) | Watch : Marc by Marc Jacobs (similar)| Shoes: Dr. Scholl’s | Lip gloss: Giorgio Armani color 519  | Lipliner: NARS color Rosebud

Why yes, those are dogs on my skirt! This adorable skirt was purchased with my other Brooks Brothers finds.

To give this look a more causal feel, I chose to wear it with this camel colored sweater. It’s a bit over sized and not the most flattering but I took a risk and tried something new. The next time I wear this skirt I will probably pair it with a fitted sweater.

It should also be noted that this sweater is not inside out, no matter what my husband says, the hem is suppose to be exposed. 😀

Fashion is all about taking risk, and sometime it doesn’t work out. I’ll know next time to steer clear of drop shoulder tops and anything over sized.

Girl’s Best Friend

DSC_0014 DSC_0049 DSC_0084 DSC_0100Sweater: Brooks Brothers (sold out) | Shirt: J.Crew | Jeans: Zara (old) | Necklace: J.Crew (old)| Bracelets: J.Crew  (old)| Ring: Oscar de la Renta (old) | Watch: Marc by Marc (similar) | Shoes: Ecco (old) | Lip Gloss: Smashbox Limitless Long Wear (Endless)| Lipliner: NARS color Rosebud

You may have already guessed it but I love a cutesy sweater. When I spotted this one I nearly died. I also love dogs!

I  styled this look with a statement ring, a sparkly necklace, and two bracelets. I would normally keep other accessories minimal but today I decided to go all out.

It can be fun to take a fashion risk. Nothing crazy, just something that is outside of your comfort zone. It doesn’t matter if it’s the norm for everyone else (bright lipstick, statement necklace, or sky high heels). If it’s something you’ve wanted to try and haven’t, give it a go. You’d be surprised by how empowered you may feel or what other things you may try after starting off with something small.

Post Vacation Stress Disorder

Last week was my first day back in the office after the holidays. I can’t recall ever being away from work for that long. It was so relaxing. I now understand the importance of time off and can’t wait for my next vacation.

Going back to work was rough. I found it difficult to adjust to my normal routine. My sleep and workout schedule were completely out of whack.

I purchased this sweater a couple years ago. I normally wear it with cranberry cords and ankle boots, but decided to change things up and wear these rose cords with riding boots.

Hope you’re all having a good week. Thanks for reading.

Happy New Year

I can hardly believe it’s 2015, it feels like any other day. I am on vacation in eastern Washington visiting my in-laws. I go back to work on Monday. I’ve enjoyed spending time with friends and family while overindulging in lots of home made meals. I have ate more food then I care to admit and I’m looking forward to getting back on track.

These photos were taken last weekend on a very cold and windy day, so excuse the wild hair. I’m wearing one of my favorite sweaters with an adorable cat critter. This is one of many J.Crew novelty sweaters in my closet. I styled this sweater with a bow blouse.

The bag is by Foley + Corinna and can be worn two ways. I was excited about this purse when I purchased it on sale last summer, but this is the first time I’ve used it. I am terrible about rotating my bags – something I need to get better about.

Have a good weekend and see ya Monday! 😀

Tennis Time

Confession time – I used to hate on Brooks Brother because I thought their clothes were too conservative. But after seeing the Red Fleece collection mentioned here, I quickly changed my mind.

When I spotted this tennis sweater I nearly died. I loved it so much. The cable texture and gorgeous three color tipped neckline was superb. It’s super soft and not itchy. I ordinarily don’t like v necks, but this one lets you show off your necklace pairing.

These jeans have become a staple in my closet. I bought them a few years back and continue to reach for them every season. In warmer months, I wear them with a pair of silver flats or sandals, and swap out the sweater for a white blouse with some delicate jewelry.

Thank you everyone for reading Lace & Pearls.  I feel grateful for the support I have received from bloggers, friends, and family.  I really do appreciate every comment and you taking the time to visit this blog.

To those who celebrate Christmas, have a good holiday and enjoy this time of the year with friends and family.
