Peplum Coat: J.Crew Factory (similar) | Shirt: Loft (old) | Jean: AG (similar) | Shoes: Vince Camuto (similar) | Necklace: Dogeared | Bracelet: J.Crew (old) | Brooch: Lulu Frost for J.Crew| Earrings: J.Crew (similar) | Watch: Marc by Marc Jacobs | Lip gloss: Giorgio Armani color 519| Lipliner: NARScolor Rosebud
Growing up I always wore earrings. Then one day I stopped. No particular reason. After seeing a handful of earrings that I liked, I decided to make an effort to start wearing them again. Two hangups I have with earrings:
- They are not visible when I wear my hair down
- I feel like I have to tone down my other accessories when wearing them
Another exciting item that I would like to highlight is this amazing bow brooch! I picked out this beauty during a J.Crew 30% off promotion. I love brooches and have acquired quite a few but need to push myself to wear them more often.
I love a feminine sweater jacket and this peplum one fits the bill. It’s dressy enough for the office but still casual for the weekends. Another way to wear this look is to swap out the jeans for navy cords, change the top for a different color, and swap the wedges for riding boots.
I can’t believe we are mid way through January. Time is passing quick. Have a great weekend everyone and see you Tuesday!
Oh before i wore earrings non stop, now I wear more great statement necklaces, as they are so simple to style and they sparkle the entire outfit. I love you look here and great cardigan. Looking stunning. Kiss, Mel

Yeah, I prefer statement necklaces too.
Thanks Mel for the lovely compliment. 🙂
Earrings are the one accessory I can’t live without! In fact I will go out without a stitch of make up on, but not without earrings :). The ones you are wearing in your photos are gorgeous. Have a wonderful weekend Asa!
That’s awesome Tania. I’m the opposite. I would rather have makeup and no jewelry. Even though I’m a jewelry-oholic if I had to pick one over the other that would be my choice.
Thanks, these earrings were the ones that made me want to start wearing earrings again. 🙂
Hope your weekend is going well.
Great post Asa – you look amazing!! Love the peplum coat <3 X
Thanks Karen! 🙂
That brooch is so fitting for the outfit. Love the little pop of shine!

Aww, thanks Christie. I appreciate your kind words.
Such a classy look! I feel naked leaving the house without earrings, though…or my rings, for that matter. That Lulu Frost brooch is lovely!
Thanks Mil! You’re so kind. I too love jewelry and can’t leave the house without it.
I agree, wearing the hair up makes them so much more visible. Gotta show those pretties off! I also agree that if they are so much of a statement, toning down my other accessories feels like the ‘safe’ way. I don’t want to look like I put on my whole jewelry box in one outfit! haha. By the way, I am loving your earrings here. 🙂
Thanks so much Jessica! We have a lot in common. You can shop with me any day. 😀
I agree. Great minds think alike or in our case have a love for shopping!
Asa you look great! I love brooches, they can spruce up any top, and this one is lovely!
Thanks so much! So glad I found another person who loves brooches as much as I do. I need to definitely try to wear them more often.
You look stunning, my friend!! Love this look! Have a great weekend!
Much love, Vanessa

Thank you Prudence. I appreciate you stopping by. 🙂
I love how ladylike the brooch is with this tweed peplum jacket. I also like how in the post you included how you would change out certain pieces to make a completely different look! I’m not much of an earring wearer either, but they always make women seem more polished and put together so I have been on the lookout for some simple but cute studs.

Thanks Heather! I love pins. I primarily where them on coats and cardigans. They would also be cute on a decorative pillow. How do you wear yours?
