Antique Weekend

November 17, 2014

DSC_0038 (resized)Two weekends ago my best friend invited my mom and I to attend the Antique & Collectible Show at the Puyallup Fairgrounds. The show happens twice a year and features items from the 1800s to the 1970s. Growing up my mom was always antiquing and decorating our home. At one point she had a spot at an antique mall. I would help her decorate and price the items. It was a fun hobby that we both enjoyed.

The show itself was full of knickknacks and vintage jewelry (my fav!). I was certain that I wouldn’t buy much because I don’t have the space. I still managed to get in trouble with some amazing vintage baubles! A lot of the pieces that I purchased were from the 30s and 50s.

The vintage toys and books brought back some nostalgia for my childhood.

Another item that I purchased was this cute Fuzzy Wuzzy Bear book that reminded me of the children’s rhyme :

Fuzzy Wuzzy was a bear
A bear was Fuzzy Wuzzy
But Fuzzy Wuzzy had no hair
So he wasn’t fuzzy, was he?

Overall the show was good but came up short in the furniture department. My mom was hoping to spot some unique pieces but there was hardly any furniture at the event. I did get two recommendations from a vendor, one was for Farm & Frills antique show and The Farm Chicks Antique Show that takes place in Spokane, WA Saturday, June 6, 2015 & Sunday, June 7, 2015.

The Farm Chicks Antique show is described as a “bucket list” event with 300 curated spaces filled with antiques, vintage and shabby chic items. I hope I can attend the 2015 show. Check out this Farm Chick video from 2013.

We had a great time. So glad you checked out the video. I can’t wait to go next year. That’s awesome that you have been to Farm & Frills. They are having a Bazaar the first week of December in Fife. I’m planning on going. It’s listed on their Facebook page. You should check out.

Seems like a chill, fun day out. I don’t antique so much so as thrift. They’re similar yet different, but require great patience though. :] // itsCarmen.com ☼ ☯

Thanks for stopping by Carmen. I appreciate. I agree that antiquing and thrifting require a lot of patience but both are a lot of fun. My advice is to wear good shoes, stay hydrated and not shop on an empty stomach. 🙂

I am so glad you were able to go to this! I wanted to and couldn’t make it. It looks like such a good time! I love antiquing and it is where some of my favorite jewelry has come from as well. I think a lot of antique-ish jewelry is coming back in vogue and it is so fun to find unique styles at a great price. In high school I picked out all my prom jewelery at the local antique mall and loved finding interesting statement pieces. I can’t wait to see what you found at the show.

Next time I go antiquing I will reach out to you. I forgot that you enjoyed too. You will have to show me some places in Seattle. I have not done much in the city. We should go to lunch too! You always know all the good places. Let plan something soon. Thanks for stopping by. It means so much to me. 🙂

Wow 🙂 That looks like so much fun and good quality family time! I too love looking for furniture at antique shops, so it would have been slightly disappointing for me as well! But it still looks like there was a lot of amazing things there! Lovely post 🙂
